Here are recaps from Saturday games in the BCHL.

PG Spruce Kings 4 – Surrey Eagles 3

Layton Ahac’s goal at 14:26 of the third was the only goal of the final frame and was the winner for the Prince George Spruce Kings in a 4-3 home victory over the Surrey Eagles.

Dustin Manz opened the scoring early in the first and after MacKenzie Merrimack replied for the Eagles, Ben Brar scored late in the opening frame to put PG back ahead by one. Chong Min Lee put the Spruce Kings up two in the second but Surrey rallied with goals by Aaron White and Desi Burgart to tie it heading to the third.

Surrey had a couple of power-play chances in the third but PG killed them both and then got the winner from Ahac with just over five minutes to go. Evan DeBrouwer made 23 saves for the win while Daniel Davidson stopped 33 for Surrey.

 

Victoria Grizzlies 3 – Nanaimo Clippers 2

Zachary Rose made 31 save for the Victoria Grizzlies and Ethan Nother scored the winner at 14:26 of the third in a 3-2 road win over the Nanaimo Clippers. Tristan Crozier opened the scoring in the first for the Clips but Jamie Rome responded shortly after. In the second, Justin Michaelian scored putting Victoria up one and in the third, Crozier got his second of the game to tie it but Nother got the winner just 2:01 later.

 

Langley Rivermen 3 – Coquitlam Express 2

Angus Crookshank scored the winner for the Langley Rivermen with just 17 seconds to go in a 3-2 home win over the Coquitlam Express. There was no scoring in the first despite Langley outshooting Coquitlam 18-3. In the second, Trevor Ayre opened the scoring but Alex Ambrosio tied it 35 seconds into the third. Langley’s Ethan Leyh and Coquitlam’s Riley Johnson traded tallies in quick succession evening the score 2-2 and OT looked likely until Crookshank’s winner.

 

Vernon Vipers 2 – Penticton Vees 2 

Adam Scheel made 38 saves for the Penticton but Vernon’s Keyvan Mokhtari scored in the third as the Vipers and Vees skated to a 2-2 draw in Vernon. After a scoreless first, Nick Leivermann and Grant Cruikshank put the Vees up 2-0 in the second. Niko Karamanis got the Vipers on the board late in the second and Mokhtari was able to tie it in the third.

 

Powell River Kings 4 – Wenatchee Wild 2

Ethan Kimball’s second period goal for the Powell River Kings was the winner in a 4-2 triumph over the Wenatchee Wild. Kyle Kawamura and Kevin Obssuth put the Kings up two in the first but Wenatchee tied it in the second on goals by Josh Arnold and Daniel Chladek. Kimball’s decisive goal came at 13:12 of the second and Jonny Evans got the final Kings goal in the third.

 

West Kelowna 4 – Salmon Arm Silverbacks 1

The West Kelowna Warriors scored twice in the first and twice in the third to claim a 4-1 home win over the Salmon Arm Silverbacks. RJ Murphy and Jared Marino scored to give the Warriors all they’d need in the first. Austin Chorney got the lone ’Backs goal in the second and in the third, Chase Stevenson and Bennett Norlin (empty net) rounded out the Warriors scoring. Nik Amundrud made 34 saves for the win while Bo Didur stopped 35 for Salmon Arm.

 

Trail Smoke Eaters 6 – Alberta Valley Bulldogs 2

A four-goal first period, including the first two of the game for Jeremy Lucchini, paved the way for the Trail Smoke Eaters in a 6-2 road win over the Alberni Valley Bulldogs. After Lucchini’s pair, Braeden Tuck and Carter Jones added on for Trail. In the second, Ross Armour made it a five-goal edge before Jackson Doucet got the Bulldogs on the board. Andre Ghantous scored for Trail in the second and Paul Selleck got the final Alberni Valley goal in the third.
