BCMML Richmond Showcase Results

in regular season

October 2, 2017

Weekend two of the BCMML season got underway last weekend with all 11 BC teams in action at the Richmond Oval Showcase.

The Everett Silvertips 18U of the North American Prospects League rounded out the competition with the 12th team, and played a pair of exhibition games vs the Okanagan Rockets.

At the end of the weekend, there were four games with double-digit scoring, with Valley West, NW Giants, GVC and Fraser Valley Thunderbirds scoring 44 goals in four games. Not surprisingly snipers from these four teams are leading the league stats so far (see below).

There were also two ties, and two games decided by a single goal.

Everett took both the exhibition games in close contests vs the Okanagan Rockets.

Vancouver NW Giants, Valley West Hawks and Greater Vancouver Canadians are now all 4-0-0 to start.

NWG are 25 GF – 5 GA; VWH are 25 GF – 6 GA; and GVC are 25 GF – 10 GA.

The 220-game regular season wraps up the weekend of March 10 – 11, 2018, with the playoffs beginning March 17, 2018.

The MML Championship series will take place April 5-6, 2018. Last season, the Cariboo Cougars won the MML Championship, downing the NW Giants in three games.

The MML Championship winner will compete against the Alberta champion in the Pacific Regional Championship for a chance to play in the 2018 TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship being held in Sudbury, Ontario April 23-29, 2018.

The MML was established in 2004 to provide elite level 15, 16 and 17 year-old players an opportunity to play within their own age group at a high level and be developed for the next level of hockey.

These teams have an opportunity each year to compete for the TELUS Cup, Canada’s National Midget Championship.
