Shawnigan Lake School announced today that Bob Beatty has been hired as the Head Coach of their Bantam Prep team.

“Shawnigan Lake School is extremely excited to welcome the veteran leadership of Bob Beatty to our school and hockey program,” said Kevin Cooper, Director of Hockey, Shawnigan Lake School. “He will bring valuable years of experience to a new and exciting group of grade 8 and 9 student athletes at Shawnigan Lake School.”

Beatty joins Shawnigan Lake School after spending the past four seasons as the General Manager and Head Coach of the British Columbia Hockey League’s (BCHL) Cowichan Valley Capitals.

“I am thrilled to be joining Kevin and the rest of the staff,” said Beatty. “Shawnigan Lake School has a great reputation of doing things the right way in all areas. I’m excited about the opportunity to work with young student athletes at the bantam level and be part of their development.”

Prior to joining the Capitals, Beatty was a head coach for 17 seasons in the Saskatchewan Junior Hockey League (SJHL). He spent nine seasons as the general manager and head coach of the La Ronge Ice Wolves, winning back-to-back SJHL Championships in 2010 and 2011, and eight seasons as the head coach of the Humboldt Broncos, with whom he won the 2003 SJHL and RBC Cup Championships.
