The puck is about to drop on one of Western Canada’s top Bantam tournaments as the 42nd annual Medicine Hat Hockey Hounds Major Bantam Tournament begins on Thursday, November 13.

There are six B.C. teams among the 16 taking part: NSWC, BWC, Vancouver T-Birds, POE, Kelowna Jr. Rockets, and Semiahmoo Ravens. Last year the Edmonton SSAC Lions beat BWC 6-4 in the final. The Bruins as well as their rivals NSWC are expected to contend for the title this year.

Each team is guaranteed to play five games, starting with one round robin game on Thursday and two on Friday. The top two teams from each group move onto the quarterfinals and the winners advance to the semis. The championship game is set for 12:30 p.m. on Sunday, November 16.

In the early going, NSWC downed Edge 2-0 in Game 1 of the tourney, and Vancouver T-Birds downed Leduc Oil Kings 2-1; T-Birds Lucas Shaw star of the game for Vancouver.
