The final match ups for the 43rd Annual Rick LaPointe AAA Bantam Memorial Tournament, hosted by the Victoria Raquet Club, are set for Sunday.
Kamloops and JDF will play for Gold in the A Pool final, while Hollyburn meets Prince George in the B Pool, and Chilliwack faces-off vs Semiahmoo in the C Pool final.
The tourney started with 12 teams, divided into three pools. After a three game round robin, teams were re-seeded into three flights according to round-robin record: 1-4 (Pool A), 5-8 (Pool B), and 9-12 (Pool C), based on points and goal differentials.
Semi-finals for each flight were played Saturday with the winners advancing to the pool finals Sunday.
In Pool A, Kelowna tiered first, Kamloops second, Nanaimo third and Juan de Fuca fourth. In the semis, JDF upset Kelowna, 2-1; and Kamloops prevailed over Nanaimo 6-3.
In Pool B, Hollyburn tiered first, followed by South Anchorage, Prince George and BWC A2s. In the semis, Hollyburn edged BWC 4-3; and Prince George handled South Anchorage 8-3.
In Pool C, Semiahmoo tiered first, Chilliwack second, Abbotsford third, and Victoria RC fourth. In the semis, Semiahmoo edged VRC 4-3 and Chilliwack downed Abbotsford 8-1.
Last year the VRC Kings won the tournament with a 2-0 win over the Kelowna Rockets in the final, but this year the team is in a rebuilding mode.
