The countdown is on as the 49th annual Kamloops International Hockey Tournament, one of the premier Bantam tournaments in Western Canada, gears up to run this year from December 28th through New Year’s Day.

The big news this year is the appearance of the WSV Sterling Broncs from Italy, and the first ever appearance of an Asian team in the tourney – featuring the Hong Kong Typhoon Selects.

The Omaha AAA Hockey Club from Nebraska, Kent Valley Selects, and two Alaskan teams will represent USA and round out the international competition.

Grande Prairie Storm, Sherwood Park Flyers, Calgary Royals, Lethbridge Hurricanes are travelling from Alberta.

Teams from all parts of BC are represented.

The tournament will feature a 14 team Tier 1 division and a 16 team Tier 2 division.

Pool A – Omaha AAA Hockey Club, Chilliwack Jr. Bruins, Calgary Royals
Pool B – Alaska Oilers, Northwest Travellers, Airdrie Xtreme, Juan de Fuca Grizzlies
Pool C – Grande Prairie Storm, Vernon Jr. Vipers, Semiahmoo Ravens
Pool D – WSV Sterzing Broncos Juniors, Kamloops Jr. Blazers, Sherwood Park Flyers, Saanich Braves
Tier 2 –
Pool A – Lethbridge T2 Jr. Hurricanes, West Kelowna Warriors, Williams lake Timberwolves, Campbell River Tyees
Pool B – Cranbrook Hornets, Chilliwack T2 Jr. Bruins, Kamloops T2 Jr. Blazers, Hong Kong Typhoon Selects
Pool C – North Shore Winter Club T2, Salmon Arm Silvertips, Quesnel Thunder, Kent Valley Selects
Pool D – Alaska Fairbanks Grizzlies, Kamloops T3 Jr. Blazers, Pursuit of Excellence Varsity, Prince George T2 Jr. Cougars
