Valley West Hawks

The Valley West Hawks are on top of the BC Major Midget League after eight games, with seven wins and a tie, and 15 points.

The Hawks travelled to Nelson this past weekend and won 8-0 and then 5-4 to move into first place ahead of the Vancouver NW Giants, who were idle this weekend.

The Hawks are now three points ahead of the Giants, with both teams having played 8 games.

The Hawks, however, have yet to play any of the other top three teams in the league. That will end this coming weekend – when they face the NW Giants at home at the North Shore Winter Club (1:00 Saturday, and 10:45 Sunday).

With 10 games played, the NE Chiefs snuck by the NW Giants on weekend, and now sit in second place, two back of the Hawks. The Chiefs posted a 4-2 win and a 4-4 tie vs the South Island Royals in Victoria.

The Okanagan Rockets, who have also played 10, round out the top 4, a point back of the NW Giants.

The Royals, Caribou Cougars, and Fraser Valley Thunderbirds  are in the middle of the pack a point behind the NW Giants.  The Greater Vancouver Canadians trail one back, with 9 pts.

On the bottom of the ten team league, the North Island Silvertips have yet to record a win after ten starts. The Thompson Blazers have two wins and two ties and Kootenay Ice have have a win and a tie after eight games. (Scroll down for charts).
