High Performance Hockey – A look at this year’s crop of BC U16s invitees

BC Hockey announced the Male U16 camp invitees April 8.

The players represent the top 120 players in the 2000 birth year as selected by BC Hockey evaluators from around the province.

Here’s a look at how the group of 120 players breaks down, by the numbers.

As would be expected the list is heavily weighted towards the most physically mature player, of which is age typically is the best predictor.

For this birth year, 47 players, or almost 40%, are born in the first two months of the year. Only 4 were born in the last two months of the year. The two December borns are 6’1″ and 6’2″.

In terms of size, 32% are 6’0″ or taller, 33% are 5’10” or 5’11”, another 33% are 5’8″or 5’9″.

The average size is 5’10.5″ and 161.5 lbs.
