March 17, 2014, Day 2 Wrap up
Six teams are competing in the Peewee Tier 1 BC Championships, hosted by Vancouver Thunderbirds.
All teams play a five game round robin, with the two top teams advancing to the Championship game.
At the end of Day 2, the early favorite Seafair Islanders are in a tough spot with two losses and a win, including an 8-2 loss to rival BWC in the final game of the day.
The Islanders had downed the Bruins 4-1 to take the PCAHA Final 4 title, while BWC had won the Lower Mainland league title with a 17-1-2 record.
The win gives the Bruins a 2-0-1 record and a one point lead over the Cowichan Valley Capitals, who have posted two wins and a loss (6-2 to BWC).
Kelowna Rockets battled the Bruins to a 3-3 draw in the opening game of the series, lost to the T-Birds 6-5 in their second game of Day 1, and then tied Cranbrook 5-5 on Day 2.
Cranbrook currently holds down third place and have a game in hand, with a 1-0-1 record. They upset the Islanders 4-2 in their opening game and will play the Bruins in a decisive match up Tuesday morning.
A win in this game would put Cranbrook in the drivers seat and make a major statement in BC minor hockey circles.
It would also give a boost to Kelowna who will face Cowichan on Tuesday, and Seafair on Wednesday.
Standby for some great Peewee hockey!
