Eight games were played last night in the BCHL, in the second weekend of regular season play.

Here’s a quick recap of the results:

 

Coquitlam 3 – Prince George 5

Coquitlam Express (1-2-0-0) vs Prince George Spruce Kings (3-0-0-0) – Rolling Mix Concrete Arena, Prince George.

PG remains undefeated with a 5-3 win vs the visiting Express. A three goal third period by the Spruce Kings was the difference. Shots finished 38-24 for PG.

Salmon Arm 3 – Trail 6

Salmon Arm Silverbacks (1-1-0-0) vs Trail Smoke Eaters (2-0-1-0), Cominco Arena, Trail.
Trail scored a pair in each frame to seal the win, scoring three power play goals on nine opportunities. The ‘Backs outshot the Smokies 30-28 but capitalized on just one of seven power play opportunities.
Levi Glasman lead the Smokies with two goals.

West Kelowna Warriors (1-2-0-0) vs Vernon Vipers (2-1-0-0), at Kal Tire Place, Vernon.
Four goal Vernon second period was the difference in this one, as Vernon went up 4-2 at the end of the frame on a pair of goals by Josh Latta.
West Kelowna’s Willie Reim got two for West Kelowna, including a late goal to pull WK with one.
Shots finished 42 – 22 for Vernon.

Chilliwack 4 – Langley 2

Chilliwack Chiefs (1-2-0-0) vs Langley Rivermen (2-1-0-0), at George Preston Arena, Langley.
An empty netter at the buzzer by Chilliwack’s Ken Wall sealed the win for the visiting Chiefs in this one, after Braedon Fleming had been pulled for the extra attacker.
Shots finished 24-23 for Langley.

Victoria  5 Alberni Valley 1
Victoria Grizzlies (1-1-0-0) vs Alberni Valley Bulldogs (2-1-0-0), at Weyerhaeuser Arena, Port Alberta.
A goal in the first, followed by three unanswered by Alexander Campbell (1.2.01, Chateauguay, QC) in the second sealed the win in this one for the visiting Victoria Grizzlies, who outshot the Bulldogs 49-25 in the game.

Penticton 4 Cowichan Valley 2

Penticton Vees (1-1-0-0) vs Cowichan Valley Capitals (0-2-0-1) at Island Savings Centre, Duncan.

After a scoreless first, the Vees opened a 3-1 lead in the second, to secure the win. Both teams scored one in the second. Vees outshot the Caps 40-20.

Wenatchee 5 – Merritt 7

Wenatchee Wild(2-1-0-0) vs Merritt Centennials (2-2-0-0) at Nicola Valley Memorial Arena, Meritt.

In this barn-burner, both teams opened with three goals in the first. The Cents then potted three more in the second, to take a 6-4 lead into the middle frame.

Wenatchee’s Christophe Tellier scored midway through the third to close the gap to a single goal, but the Cent’s Nick Granowicz would score with 4:39 left to secure the win for Merritt.

Tellier’s goal gives him seven points in three games. Granowicz is 1G-4A for the Cents. Three assists by the Cents Bradley Cocca gives him 7 points in four games to lead the Cents.

Nanaimo 2 Powell River 4 (unofficial)

Nanaimo Clippers(1-1-0-0) vs Powell River Kings (1-0-0-0) at Powell River. A hat-trick from Ben Berard, including the last two goals late in the third, lifted the Kings to a 4-2 win in this game Friday night.

After a scoreless first, both teams had scored twice in the second to set up the finish by Berard. The Kings outshot the Clips 34-24. Mitch Adamyk got the win, Jordan Naylor took the loss.
