BCHL Update – Week 5 – Chiefs on top

in regular season

October 15, 2018

Here’s a look at the current standings in the BCHL after the fifth weekend of regular season play, along with the Top 20 scoring leaders and Top 20 goalies.

The Chilliwack Chiefs are hanging on to first place overall and still hold a narrow two point lead over the Coquitlam Express, 22 to 20 in the Mainland division. Both teams have now played 15 games.

The Chiefs downed Vernon Vipers 3-2 on Sunday at Prospera Place to stay in the lead.

The Prince George Spruce Kings are five back of the Chiefs, and three back of the Express, with two games in hand on the leaders.

On the Island, the Victoria Grizzlies are still out in front, though they only played one game last week. The Grizzlies remain four points up on the Powell River Kings, and seven up on third place Alberni Bulldogs.

It’s still a much different story in the Interior, where it’s very tight. The Vernon Vipers have slipped back a bit, but although they’re in the basement, they’re just two points back of the next three teams, and they have three games in hand on the first place Merritt Centennials.

The Cents won two and lost a game last week, and still lead Trail by one point, but the Smokies have two games in hand.

The Vees are two back of the Smokies. The next three are tied for fourth overall.

Merritt have scored the most goals so far, 64 but have also allowed the most, 56.

The Coquitlam Express are posting the best GF-GA differential, at +18, after 15 games. The Fees are next at +13, after twelve games.
