BCMML Week 2 – 4 tied at top, Hawks McLean leads scoring

The BC Major Midget League wrapped up Week 2 of the regular season this Sunday, with another series of five matches. At the end of the weekend, four teams were tied at the top with six points each, after four games (scroll down for standings).

 

Kootenay sweep South Island

The Kootenay Ice bounced back from their opening week pair of home ice losses to Fraser Valley with two tight wins over the South Island Royals, again at home in Trail.

Game 1 was 3-2; game 2 finished 3-1 (EN).

 

Cariboo tie and a win vs NE Chiefs

The Cariboo Cougars travelled to the Lower Mainland and came away with 3 of a possible 4 points vs the North East Chiefs.

Game 1 finished tied 5-5; game two, 2-0.

The Cougars’ Brendan Pigeon finished the weekend tied for second in league scoring, with 5G-3A in four games.

 

GVC take two on vs North Island

The GVC Canadians shutout North Island 4-0 in game 1, and finished the weekend with a 5-2 victory.

Samuel May leads the Canadians with 4G-3A, tied for third in league scoring.

 

 Valley West Giants vs NW Hawks, Hawks take two

The newly named Valley West Giants (formerly Hawks) and North West Hawks (formerly Giants) faced each other in a pair of games this weekend in the Lower Mainland.

The Northwesters came away with a 5-4 OT Win in Game 1 in Langley and then posted a 5-2 win in Game 2 at home at the North Shore Winter Club.

At the end of the weekend, the Hawks’ had four players in the Top 10. Jake McLean lead the league with 4G-5A for 9 pts, with team mates Tyler Cristall a point behind with 5G-3A, Brandon Buhr tied for third in scoring with 1G-6A and Liam Hudson one back at 2G-4A.

 

Okanagan take two vs Blazers

The Okanagan Rockets both games in a home and home series vs the Thompson Blazers.

In game 1 in at the Sandman Centre in Kamloops, Okanagan prevailed 5-2. In game 2 on Sunday, at the Capital News Centre it was the Rockets on top again, 6-3.

Colby Elmer leads the Rockets offensively, with 5G-2A after four games, tied in third place.
