BCMML gets underway

The BC Major Midget League got underway this weekend with a full slate of five two-game series. North Island Silvertips had the bye-weekend.

SI Royals vs NE Chiefs, Split

The South Island Royals hosted the Vancouver North East Chiefs in two games, winning the first 4-2 on Saturday in Saanich, then losing 4-0 in the rematch Sunday in Victoria.

T-Birds win two in Trail

In Trail, the Kootenay Ice were host to the visiting Fraser Valley Thunderbirds. On Friday the visitors dominated 42-11 on the shot clock, and came away with a 7-2 win. Saturday wasn’t as one-sided – shots were 38-20 for the TBirds, who scored three in the third to break a 2-2 tie after the second, to finish the game at 5-3.

Rockets vs GVC – high-scoring split

The home town Rockets bombed the Greater Vancouver Canadians 7-0 in their opener at home in the Capital Centre Saturday, only to see the visitors bounce back for an 8-4 win in game two Sunday.

 Valley West Giants vs Cariboo, Tie and Win for the Cougars

The newly named Valley West Giants (formerly Hawks) travelled to Prince George for two games to open their respective seasons.

Game one finished 3-3 on Saturday, with shots 33-28 for the Giants. On Sunday, the home town Cougars, came out on top, 3-1, outshooting the Giants 37-21.

NW Hawks vs Kamloops, split

The North West Hawks headed to Kamloops for their two game opener this weekend, and came away with a split. The Hawks lead from the start in game 1, and battled a Blazers comeback to finish 3-2. On Sunday it was same start but different ending. The Hawks again went up early and lead 4-3 at the end of second, only to see the Blazers rally and finish with a 7-4 win, for the split.
