There are now just four games left in the BCMML regular season, and the first place Okanagan Rockets are now ten points up on #2 Fraser Valley Thunderbirds, a gain of three from last weekend.
The Rockets blasted last place GVC 11-0 in Kelowna Saturday and followed it up with 10-0 shellacking on Sunday. Okanagan will split a home and home vs #6 Thompson this coming weekend, and then travel to #4 Vancouver North East Chiefs for their final two games of the regular season, at Burnaby 8 Rinks.
The #3 North West Hawks meanwhile, remain two back of the T-Birds, after the teams split a home and home matchup this past weekend – both winning as visitors. The Hawks won 4-3 in Abbotsford on Sunday, and were then shutout 6-0 at the North Shore Winter Club on the holiday Monday.
The Hawks will wrap with a series vs the #9 South Island Royals at the NSWC this coming weekend, and then travel to Trail for their last two against #10 Kootenay Ice the following weekend.
The T-Birds will travel to Top 4 contender, Cariboo this weekend for two key games, and then travel to Saanich for their final pair of games vs the South Island Royals, the next weekend.
The North East Chiefs and Cariboo Cougars remain tied – now with 50 points, after both gained four points this past weekend. However, as the Chiefs have two games in hand, they are in the #4 spot, and the Cougars in #5.
There’s a big drop off in the standings after these two teams, with Thompson Blazers and Valley West tied with 31 points, next, 19 points back of the NE Chiefs and Cariboo.
Scoring Leaders
Three Okanagan Rockets and three Fraser Valley players remain in the Top 10, with the group being led by the Rockets’ Dylan Wightman with 19G-33A, 52 points in 35 games played. Fraser Valley’s Zack Feaver and OK’s Teague Patton are next wth 49 points. Feaver is 14G-35A, 49 points, in 35 GP. Patton has the same record, but in 32 GP.
Top Goalies
OK Rockets goalie Cayden Hamming is posting the lowest GGA, at 1.63 and the best winning record, with 15W, 2L and 1T in 18 starts. The Cariboo Cougars Kenny Gerow has the next best GAA at 1.93, and has posted 10W-3L in 13 games.
