The Valley West Hawks have a four point lead atop the BCMML standings after a two game sweep of the Greater Vancouver Canadians.

On Friday night, the two teams did battle at the Langley Events Centre with the Hawks pulling out a 5-2 victory. The Hawks were led by Justyn Gurney (1G, 1A), Michael Farren (1G, 1A), Oliver Alcock (2A) and James Malm (2A) on route to the victory.

On Saturday the two teams headed to the Richmond Oval where Valley West had a dominant performance with a 6-1 victory. James Malm showed exactly why the Hawks were so excited to get him back in the lineup with his first multi-goal performance of the season while captain Ben Evanish got on the board with two goals of his own.

The Cariboo Cougars have moved in to 2nd place after a weekend series with the North Island Silvertips.

On Saturday, the Cougars dominated the Silvertips with an 8-2 victory at the Kinsman Arena in Prince George. The Cougars were led by a two goal performance from Chase Dubois in the victory.

Sunday’s affair was a much closer game as the Cougars pulled out a 3-1 victory over North Island. This time it was Josh Maser who had the two goal performance in the victory.

The 3rd place Vancouver NW Giants were in a tight series against the Fraser Valley Thunderbirds with both games ending in a draw.

On Saturday, the two teams played to a 1-1 tie with Mitchell Williams scoring the lone goal for Vancouver while Jamie Housch had the lone goal for Fraser Valley.

Sunday’s game proved to be a much higher scoring game as each team was able to score five goals in the draw. Mitchell Williams was the star again for Vancouver with a two goal game while Fraser Valley had a team effort with each goal being scored by a different player.

The Okanagan Rockets could be in 3rd place right now, but they saw their game against South Island on Saturday rescheduled due to weather conditions which led to a bus issue.

On Sunday, the Rockets ran in to a hot goalie as they fired 43 shots at Royals goaltender Austin Rodin who stopped all but one, as the Rockets finished the game tied 1-1, despite outshooting the Royals 43-26.

In the middle of the pack, we see the Vancouver NE Chiefs retaining their 5th place position after a 7-1 win and 4-4 draw against the Thompson Blazers. The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds have moved in to 6th after two ties against the Giants. And the Greater Vancouver Canadians have fallen in to a tie for 7th after dropping two games against Valley West. They’re tied with the South Island Royals who had the lone game against Okanagan.

At the bottom of the standings, Thompson is still in 9th, while North Island remains in 10th and Kootenay rounds out the league in 11th place.

Top Goalies – Tallarico reaches 10 wins, tied with Demers

Okanagan Rockets goaltender Cole Demers did not record a win this weekend, but he still holds the top spot in the win column, now alongside Hawks G Nicholas Tallarico who notched his 10th win of the season on Friday night.

Vancouver NW Giants tender Beck Warm has seen his goals against average rise to 1.40, but that’s still good enough to lead the  league in that column. He has still yet to lose a game this season with a record of 8-0-2 through 10 games.
