Five BCMML teams are competing in the 2017 Mac’s AAA Midget Hockey Tournament, in Calgary, Alberta. One team has been placed into each of the five Round Robin Pools. The teams will play four round robin games to start.
The tournament has been running since 1978 and attracts top teams from across Western Canada and the USA, plus a few select clubs from Europe, including national teams from Hungary and Belarus this year.
Here’s a quick overview of the round robin schedules for the five BC teams. The teams were selected on the basis of their Top 5 BCMML standing in early November.

The Valley West Hawks are currently the number 1 team in the BCMML, a position they have held for the past four weeks.
The Hawks are currently 20-3-1-0 OTL, with 143 GF – 62 GA, 397 PIM.
The Hawks opened Boxing Day vs Airdrie CFR Bisons, and will face:
Regina Pat Canadians, 10:45 AM December 27 (3-3 tie).
Calgary North Stars, 4:15 PM December 28; and
Ontario Jr. Reign 8:00 AM on December 30.

The Cariboo Cougars, who represent North Central British Columba are currently in second place in the BCMML.
The team is 19-4-1-0 OTL, with a 118 GF – 69 GA record, 370 PIM.
The Cougars opened the Mac’s on Boxing Day with a 10-0 Winn vs the Carolina Junior Hurricanes.
They play:

Calgary Buffaloes, 7:00 PM, December 29.

Cougars open with 10-0 win vs Carolina. Score was 1-0 after first, 9-0 after second.
Brennan Algunas was 1G-1A, Mason Richey 1G-2A, Craig MacDonald 3A. Brett Funder and Brendan Pigeon were 1G-1A. Marcus Allen stopped 14 shots. Shots were 33-14.

The Fraser Valley Thunderbirds are currently in third place of the BCMML, with a record of 16-6-1-1 OTL, with 113 GF – 75 GA, 500 PIM.
Fraser Valley played their first game at the Mac’s on Boxing Day vs the Hungarian National U18 team winning 7-2.

The Vancouver Giants are currently tied in 5th place of the BCMML with the Greater Vancouver Canadians.
The NW Giants are 12-9-0-1 OTL after 22 games, with an 80 GF vs 71 GA record.
The Giants opened their Mac’s in Calgary Boxing Day with a 11-2 loss vs defending champion Belarus National U17s.

Calgary Flames, 1:30 PM, December 30.
