March 8, 2013 – Everything was going according to plan for both Langley A2 and Burnaby Winter Club A2 as they met on Tuesday evening. Both teams were undefeated through two Final Four games and both were guaranteed a place in the Provincials. The only question left to answer was which one was going to show more poise and secure a PCAHA Champions banner.
Burnaby Winter Club came into the game as a fairly balanced team, one that scored as many as they allowed in a tough PCAHA Flight 2 grouping – which included several A1 teams – and had finished the season with the best record of any of the A2 teams at 9w-9L-2T. Langley was also competitive, earning a 7w-11L-3T record amongst the A1’s, but showed signs of trouble on the back end, allowing 13 more goals than they scored during the regular season.
Despite their struggles to keep pucks out of the net at times this season, Langley’s defence was air tight on Tuesday, as they frustrated the BWC Bruins, shutting them out 4-0 en-route to the PCAHA Championship win.
The next action for both teams will be at the Provincials in Kelowna, which starts March 17th.
