North Shore Winter Club Bantam A1s finished their 3 game round robin Friday night with a perfect record, outscoring opponents 8-3 (Regina Silver Fox), 9-0 (Calgary Sabres) and 6-2 (Lloydminster Heat); to set up a quarter final Saturday against home town team Medicine Hat – South East, who finished second in their pool.

The Winterhawks dominated almost every period in the opening round with a combination of offensive speed, quick puck movement, multi player forecheck, and deadly power play.

Rival Burnaby Winter Club meanwhile came up against the number two ranked Alberta team in Calgary Bisons in their final game of the round robin, and ended up on the short side of a 5-4 contest that was hard fought but tarnished with penalties.

The loss pits the Bruins against number one ranked Alberta team, South Side Athletic Club, from Edmonton in the semi-final Saturday morning.

The three other PCAHA representatives Abbotsford, Langley and Semiahmoo each with two losses, did not qualify for the play off round; where only first and second place from each four team pool advances.

Pursuit of Excellence, the Kelowna-based hockey academy, also advanced to the second round; with a perfect 3-0 record; leaving three BC teams in contention for the tournament championship.
