BWC Bantam A2
It’s been quite a change of scenery for the BWC Bantam A2s since the New Year opened.
After posting a nearly perfect 10-1-1 record in Flight 2, the team was pushed up to Flight 1 to finish the PCAHA regular season. The young club dropped four in a row before capturing a 2-0 win against sixth place Semiahmoo (8-8-2) Saturday, Jan 25. The victory was followed by a tough 6-1 loss against fourth place Langley (12-6-2) the next day.
The team will close out the regular season with a game against seventh place Hollyburn (7-8-3) at home, 12:30 Saturday, Feb 1.
The A2s will then have a bye week off, as the PCAHA resets its schedule to mesh with BC Hockey Provincial Championship tiering. As the only Tier 2 team playing in Flight 1, the Bruins will enter the PCAHA second round as the top ranked Tier 2 team, and will face the 16th ranked Tier 2 team in their first play-off game.
Assuming they win this one game elimination round, the A2s will then enter the four point quarter final series against the 8th place team emerging from round 2, mostly likely a team team currently playing in Flight 3.
The following Final 4 series will feature a three game round robin, with the winner, runner up and possibly third place team advancing to the Provincial Championships in Mission. The third place team would advance should provincial host Mission finish first or second in the Final 4. Normally just two PCAHA teams advance to the provincials. The host team automatically qualifies for a provincial playoff berth.
The Final 4 favorites at the moment, Bruins A2, Mission A1, NSWC A2, Abby A2, Langley A2, Port Moody A1, and from Flight 3, New West A1 (12-5-2). Long shots, Vancouver T-Birds A2, North Delta A1, Coquitlam A2, Vancouver A1.
