CSSHL Bantam Prep Team Report

BWC Bantam Prep wrapped their season with a three game series in Wilcox, last weekend. They finished with two wins and a loss, to improve their record to 14-12-1-3 for the season.

The record means the team will finish 9th overall, and will be competing in the playoffs in Penticton, starting Thursday, March 11.

The team will face the two top teams in their opening two game round, facing #2 Yale on Tuesday, March 10; and then #1 Delta Green, on Thursday, March 12. Both Delta Green and Yale finished with 25 wins and 77 points.

The playoffs are set up in two pools of five, with the top team in each pool playing their first two games vs the two last place qualifiers, BWC and Pacific Coast.

The 2-3-4 teams in each pool playoff in the other round one games. The Top 8 move on to the quarterfinals.

Here’s how the regular season wrapped up for BWC this past weekend.

Game 1, BWC 4 – Edge 3

BWC’s first game on the weekend started Friday night, vs #7 ranked Edge School, out of Calgary.

BWC’s Tyler Chan got the only marker in the first period.

Tyler Tse scored 26 seconds into the second to open a 2-0 lead, but Edge got the next two, and had the game tied by mid period. But BWC would soon answer with two more to carry a 4-2 lead into the final frame.

Edge clawed one back with 7:40 to play, but couldn’t get the equalizer.

Shots finished 33-33. Charlie Tritt got the win.

 

Game 2: Rink 5 – BWC 4

Game two got underway at 9:00 AM Saturday, a short turn around after the previous night’s game.

This one was a battle, with BWC scrapping back from an 4-1 deficit at the mid-second period point, to finish the period at 4-3.

Rink then scored in the first minute of the third, to retake the two goal lead. BWC fired 15 shots vs 6 against in the period, and finally got one back on the power play with 1:22 left, but it wasn’t enough to force OT.

Shots finished 42-38 for Rink. Charlie Tritt took the loss, while Donovan Bodnar got the W.

 

Game 3: BWC 6 – OHA Edmonton 2

It was another early start for BWC for their final regular season game on Sunday, getting underway at 8:00 AM.

But the early start didn’t stop BWC from coming out with a Big Bang, firing 21 shots in the first period, and jumping out to a 3-0 lead after twenty minutes.

They added the only goal in the second, and then split the scoring 2-2 with OHA Edmonton in the final frame, to finish 6-2.

Dryden Kuramoto lead BWC with 2G-2A, while Luke Ashton and Lucas Baxter were 2A.  Dylan Emerson was 1G-1A.

Benjamin van der Tas stopped 35 for the win.
