Association Report: BWC Bantam Teams
BWC Bruins A1 – Flight 1
The BWC Bruins A1 team have only played two games in the PCAHA regular season so far, tying Richmond 0-0 in their opener November 18; and downing Hollyburn Huskies 6-3 in their second outing November 22.
The opening regular season game came a day after the Bruins had returned from the Medicine Hat Hounds tournament, where they won bronze in convincing style with a 10-2 win over the Saint Albert PAC Saints, and posted a 5-1-0 tournament record.
Their only hiccup at the tournament came during the semi-finals at the hands of the Edge Mountaineers, who they outshoot 50-16, but lost to 4-2.
A win in that game would have set up an all BC final with NSWC, who handled the Edge easily 6-1 in the final.
In the 0-0 game vs Richmond back in BC, the Bruins were playing a team that was also just back from an Alberta tournament.
The Blues had played in the rival 4th Annual Rocky Mountain Bantam AAA tournament hosted by the NW Calgary Bisons, which was won by another BC team, the Delta Hockey Academy.
In Calgary, Richmond were 1-3-1; they lost 3-1 to the Calgary North Stars, tied OHA 2-2, lost 5-4 to Rocky Mountain, beat Kamloops 3-2 in a shoot out, and finished with a 5-1 loss to Victoria.
The Bruins will play twice this coming weekend, vs Vancouver T-Birds at home Saturday, and then away at Cloverdale Sunday.
The T-Birds have only played three games so far and are 1-2-0, posting a 4-0 win over Coquitlam; a 4-1 loss to Ridge Meadows and a 3-1 loss to Cloverdale.
Cloverdale is currently leading the PCAHA Tier 1 division with a 5-1-0 record, their only loss coming at the hands of NSWC, 5-0, in game played the day after the Winterhawks returned from their 6 game sweep in Medicine Hat.
The Colts will no doubt bring everything they’ve got to the Sunday tilt vs the Bruins.
BWC Bantam A2 – Flight 2, currently 5th of 11.
The Bruins Bantam A2s meanwhile, are also posting solid results in the early going of Flight 2 PCAHA regular season play, with a record of 3-1-0 to start.
The club started with three straight wins, 4-2 vs Port Moody A1, 4-1 vs Van T-Birds A2, and 1-0 vs Vancouver Spirit A1, before dropping a 7-5 decision to North Vancouver Storm on November 22.
Like the A1s, the A2s also have two games to play this weekend, both at home, against North Delta A1 (2-2-0) Saturday and Langley A2 (0-1-0) on Sunday.
Currently NSWC A2 and Chilliwack A1 are tied at the top of the division with 3-0-1 and 4 sporties, for 11 points, just ahead of Port Moody A1 and Vancouver Spirt A1 both with 3-2-0-4 records and 10 points.
North Van meanwhile sits with a 1-5-0 record, their only win coming vs. the Bruins.
BWC Bantam A3 – Flight 6, currently 5th of 11.
The BWC Bantam A3s are 3-3-0 with 2 sporties, in fifth place and sit 4 points back of Whistler A1s (5-0-0-2) who are in first place in the 11 team division.
The Bruin A3s have wins over North Van A3, 6-2; Surrey A3, 5-1; and Ridge Meadows, 6-2. The losses have come against Cloverdale A3, 3-2; Richmond A2, 7-3; and the Whistler A1s, 9-0.
The team plays third place Chilliwack (2-2-1) next on Monday, and then fourth place Burnaby A2s (3-1-1) next Saturday, Dec 6.
