The BWC Hockey Academy is hosting its first Canadian Sports School Hockey League Showcase this weekend, with most games at BWC and a few at Kensington and North Burnaby.
Here is a recap of Saturday’s games.
SATURDAY NIGHT GAMES
Delta Hockey Academy (6)
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (1)
Kyle Ahlfield and Andrew Kemp each scored twice as the Delta Hockey Academy used a three-goal second period to skate to a 6-1 win over the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy on Saturday evening.
Kemp also had one assist in the game, while Mike Matson finished the night with a goal and two helpers. Zefan Pighin rounded out the Delta (9-9-0) scoring attack with his second goal of the campaign.
Scott Smith score the lone-goal of the game for Pacific Coast (0-17-0), his first tally of the season.
Tyler McLennan turned aside 26 shots in goal for Delta, earning his fourth win of the season, while Jaysen MacLean made 24 saves between the pipes for Pacific Coast.
Pursuit of Excellence (6)
Yale Hockey Academy (3)
Cassidy Bowes lit the lamp three times to lift the Pursuit of Excellence to a 6-3 win over the Yale Hockey Academy on Saturday evening.
Bowes, who now has 13 goals on the season, scored once in the opening frame and twice more in the third period for Pursuit, while Aiden Buhler added a two goals and a helper. Alec Zawatsky rounded out the scoring with a goal and assist.
Bronson Sharp scored twice for Yale, while Scott Mahovlich added his fifth tally of the season.
Keaton Dyck picked up the win in goal, improving his record to 6-2-0 on the year.
BWC Hockey Academy (3)
Edge School for Athletes (2)
Logan Bromhead factored in on all three goals as the BWC Hockey Academy extended their winning streak to 18 games with a 3-2 win over the Edge School for Athletes on Saturday night.
Bromhead scored twice, including the game-winner, while also setting up the first Burnaby (18-2-0) goal, which was netted by Evan Walls.
Nikita Drozdov scored both goals for Edge (9-9-2), giving him three on the season.
Zakery Myrowich won his 11th straight game in goal for Burnaby, making 36 saves in the game.
Matthew Armitage turned aside 47 shots between the pipes for Edge.
SATURDAY MORNING GAMES
BWC Hockey Academy (6)
Pacific Coast Hockey Academy (3)
Zakery Myrowich made 29 saves as the BWC Hockey Academy skated to their 17th straight win, defeating the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy 6-3 on Friday morning.
Jonathan Stein, Evan Walls and Nolan Welsh each had a goal and assist for Burnaby (17-2-0), while Logan Bromhead, Colten Gerlib and Emilio Salas each chipped in with singles.
Drew Coughlin and Therann Kincross each found the back of the net once and setup another for Pacific Coast (0-16-0), which also got a goal from Oliver Hahn, his fourth of the season.
Myrowich, who made 15 of his 29 saves in the opening 20 minutes, improves to 10-1-0 on the season in goal for Burnaby, while Tyler Smith turned aside 42 shots between the pipes for Pacific Coast.
Delta Hockey Academy (4)
Pursuit of Excellence (3)
Wyatt Elmer scored twice including the game-winner to lift the Delta Hockey Academy to a 4-3 win over the Pursuit of Excellence on Saturday morning.
Andrew Bennett and Eric Bourhill also tallied for Delta (8-9-0), which held a 3-2 lead going into the third period before Elmer netted his second of the game and sixth of the season 6:21 into the frame.
Cassidy Bowes found the back of the net twice for Pursuit (8-5-0), while Ethan Trampuh added his sixth of the campaign.
Tyler McLennan earned his fourth win of the season between the pipes for Delta, making 30 saves in the game, while Keaton Dyck turned aside 27 shots in goal for Pursuit.
Yale Hockey Academy (4)
Edge School for Athletes (3)
David Laurin and Bronson Sharp each scored once in regulation and once in the shootout as the Yale Hockey Academy were 4-3 winners over the Edge School for Athletes on Saturday afternoon.
Parmjot Dhaliwal also tallied for Yale (10-3-0), which have now won three straight.
Nikita Drozdov, Nicholas Gatti and Adam Mohamed each found the back of the net once for Edge (9-8-2), with Gatti knotting the game up at 3-3 with less than four minutes to play in the third period.
Braedon Fleming improved to 5-1-0 on the season, making 25 saves between the pipes for Yale, while Matthew Armitage turned aside 35 shots in the Edge crease.
