BWC E15s started the New Year with two huge wins in their opening games at home Saturday and Sunday, to take an 8 point lead over second place Edge, and widen the gap further against rivals from Delta and West Van.

In game one Saturday, BWC downed West Van 4-3 in a closely fought battle, that saw West Van rally from a 2-0 first period deficit, to tie it 2-2 early in the third on two goals from Jack Steffens.

However BWC bounced back with two more (Sean Donaldson and Samuel Huo) shortly after to make it 4-2, with 10:33 to play.

West Van’s Jack Silpec made it interesting with a powerplay goal with 2:26 to go, but BWC held on for the win.

Shots were 28-26 for West Van. Kaedan Freer-Lane got the win. Xavier Cannon took the loss.

In Game 2 Sunday BWC and Yale played another tightly contested game. After finishing the first tied at 1-1, BWC scored two in first half the second to open a 3-1 lead.

But Yale came back with a powerplay goal with 9:05 left, and then scored to tie it 3-3 with just 7 seconds left in the frame.

BWC then shut out Yale 2-0 in the third to secure the 5-3 win, and four points on the weekend.

Sean Donaldson had another big game, with a hat-trick. Sam Huo and Tyler Schleppe both notched three helpers.

Michael Harroch got the win, stopping 27 of 30. Blake Wood to the loss on 37 shots.
