CSSHL Elite 15 – BWC, NAX & Delta separate from the pack

in regular season

January 15, 2019

Most CSSHL E15 teams have only played seven or eight games since our last look at the division at the end of November, due to the long holiday break.

So perhaps not surprising there has not been much movement over the period.

Most teams have now played around 28 games, leaving just eight more to got before the regular season wraps up.

#1 BWC E15 still lead the league – a month ago they were 19-1-1 in 21 games, today, 23-2-3, leading Northern Alberta and Delta by six points.

#2 NAX are on a tear, with a nine game winning streak, and have moved up a spot in the standings from a month ago, when they trailed the leaders by 10 points. With two games in hand, they could potentially be within two points of BWC.

#3 Delta, technically in third place due to NAX also having two games in hand on them, have lost just once in regulation in their last eight games. They’ve also posted 2 OTLs, picking up 12 of a possible 16 points over the stretch.

After the top three, there’s a substantial gap separating the remainder of the pack.

#4 Prairie is 15 points back of the leader and #5 Rink is 17 back.

#6 St. Georges and #7 OHA Edmonton are the only other teams over .500, at 26 and 28 points back respectively.

Scoring Leaders

Not surprisingly, BWC forwards are well represented in the ranks of the Top 10 scoring leaders. The team has scored the most goals overall, 150.

Leading the league is BWC’s Matthew Seminoff, with 18G, 48 points. He’s a point up on Pursuit’s Yasaku Ando, who leads the league with 29 goals. The two were tied at the top with 38 points apiece a month ago.

Ando’s performance is notable as the team is in 11th place, with just six wins; and has scored just 70 goals in 29 games. He also plays on PoE’s 16U team in the 35 team North American Prospects Hockey League and leads that league with 16G, 29 points in 16 games. Ando is a native of Tomakomai, Japan.

BWC’s Michael Abrall, 24G and 43 points is #5 overall. Chase Sandhu is #7 with 9G and 39 points, and is tied with Seminoff for most assists overall, with 30.

Together with Seminoff, the two are accounting for a third (51) of BWC’s goals

Northern Alberta Xtreme, as expected, are also well represented in the Top 10. The team has posted 136 goals in 26 games, for a 5.32 goals per game average, just behind BWC’s 5.35.

Like BWC, NAX also have three players in the Top 10 – Myles Hilman is #3 overall, posting 18G, 43 points, with the second most assists in the league, at 25, a record shared with teammate Sam Popowich who has 15G, 40 points, in the #6 spot. Evan Arnold rounds out the NAX Top 10, with 12G, 35 points, at #9 overall.

Rink has two in the Top 10:  Skyler Bruce #4, with 19G, 42 points and Evan Arnold, #9, is 12G, 35 points.

Prairie’s Kirkland Mullen, 17G, 34 points is #10.
