Last weekend the Burnaby Academy E-15 returned to Idaho for a Showcase, and pulled off 3 wins, a tie, and lost one. The streak put the team within reach of third spot in the seven team Canadian Sports School Hockey League.
The weekend started off well on Friday as the BWC Elite 15 team defeated Idaho’s Compete E-15 3-0. Sam Atkins started the scoring in the first on a PP, on an assist from Mateo Coltellaro. Brady Chin scored with about 5 minutes left in the second, assisted by Callum Volpe; then Kyle Anderson scored about a minute later to close out the game.
BWC outshot the Compete 46-23.
The team then played a second game Friday, against the Pacific Coast Hockey Academy from Victoria, Vancouver Island, and came away with 4-4 tie.
The team then faced off Saturday in a game against the San Jose Sharks U16 and came away with a convincing 6-2 win. After some lunch and a bit of rest the team then returned to the ice for a rematch against Compete Academy E15; and again came out on top, though this time by a narrow 4-3 margin.
In the afternoon the team played their second rematch, against Pacific Coast Academy, and this time fell 7-5, before heading home to Burnaby.
This coming weekend, the team meets the Compete Academy on home ice for two games. Wins in both games will put them in third place in the league.
