Ben Cooper moves to Canucks Video

Vancouver, B.C. – Vancouver Canucks General Manager Jim Benning officially confirmed today that Ben Cooper has been named Assistant Coach, Video for the club. Cooper will work alongside Head Coach Willie Desjardins and Assistant Coaches Glen Gulutzan and Doug Lidster on the Canucks staff.

Cooper, 36, joins the Canucks from the BWC Hockey Academy Prep Under 18 team where he served as Head Coach. Prior to joining the BWC Hockey Academy, Cooper served in a number of coaching capacities, including Head Coach for the Okanagan Hockey Academy Varsity Team, Assistant Coach for the WHL Victoria Royals, Assistant Coach for the SAIT Trojans, and Video Coach for the AHL Toronto Marlies.

On the international stage, the Vancouver, British Columbia, native has served as Hockey Canada’s Manager of Men’s National Team Video from 2008 to 2011. His experience with Hockey Canada includes three years as Video Coach for the national junior program, two years as the Ivan Hlinka U-18 Memorial Tournament team Video Coach as well as Video Coach for the 2009 and 2011 World Championship Men’s Teams. Cooper also served as Video Manager of the 2010 Olympic gold-medal winning Canadian Men’s team.

Newly appointed BWC hockey director, Maco Balkovec will take over the U18 team at the BWC Hockey Academy.
