Victoria Grizzlies defenceman Carter Berger was named the BCHL Player of the Week for the week ending Oct. 28, the league announced Monday.

Berger piled up five goals and two assists for seven points on the Grizzlies three-game road trip last weekend.

The North Vancouver native started the streak with with a goal and an assist Oct. 26 in his team’s 4-2 win over the league-leading Chilliwack Chiefs.

The following day, he got Victoria on the board in a 4-2 road loss to the Merritt Centennials and he closed out his impressive weekend on Sunday with another two goals and an assist in the Grizzlies 6-2 win over the Surrey Eagles and was named the game’s third star.

After his seven-point weekend last weekend Berger, who recently committed to the University of Connecticut, added a goal and two assists on Sunday in the team’s 6-0 shut out of the Nanaimo Clippers.

Berger now leads all BCHL defenceman, with 26 points, 11G-15A, and is ninth overall in league scoring, the only defenseman in the Top 20.
