Bantam Prep:
Eight weeks into the CSSHL season, there’s a three-way tie at the top of the Bantam Prep Division.
West Van currently sits in 1st by virtue of fewest games played, with 20 points in 12 games this season. Both the team’s losses came in the four-game weekend in Calgary, where they lost 3-1 to Rink and 5-2 to Notre Dame.
Outside of those two losses, West Van has scored at least five goals in every game, leading the division with a +54 goal differential.
The key to their success is undoubtedly Connor Bedard an ’05 born player that leads the entire division in scoring with 43 points (31G-12A). Andrej Kovacevic (04) at 14G-19A and Fraser Minten at 6G-25A round out their top three scorers.
St. George’s also have 20 points with a 10-3-0 record, having only lost to Delta Green (twice) and Burnaby. They have a lower goal differential than the three teams beneath them in the standings and have yet to play West Van, but for now they hold down 2nd spot in the division.
They are led by two of the top three scorer’s in the division; Thomas Tien at 16G-18A and Connor Levis at 14G-20A.
BWC rounds out the top three, currently 10-4-0 for 20 points on the season. They’ve played more games than any team in the division, but their second-best goal differential (+41) suggests they’ll remain a top team even once opponents begin to catch up in games played.
They’ve been playing well of late with three straight wins, including a 5-1 win over St. George’s on October 26.
Tyson Dyck at 10G-16A, Brandon Lisowsky at 16G-6A, and Jaeger Murdock at 10G-11A lead things offensively for BWC.
Delta Green sits 4th in the division with an 8-1-2 record, but could rise with games in hand on each of the three teams above them.
Their only loss was an 11-10 barnburner against West Van, and they’ve won each of their last five games.
Mathew Ward at 9G-14A, Brayden Boehm at 10G-11A, and Kyle Chyzowski 7G-13A lead a very balanced Delta team.
No team has been hotter than Yale, who have won eight straight games in a row after a pair of losses against Delta Green and St. George’s to start the season.
They’ve allowed the fewest goals of any team with only 19 against, a distinct shift from the four teams above them who tend to score their way out of any troubles.
Hayden Smith leads the team in points at 10G-8A, while the goaltenders Kolby Hay and Ben Grahame have both been stellar.
