CSSHL – BWC Bantam Prep – shut out by WV – big weekend ahead

in regular season

November 27, 2018

BWC dropped to second place in the CSSHL Bantam Prep division after a 5-0 loss to West Van (12-2-1) at Hollyburn on Saturday, their only game of the weekend.

It’s the first time this season BWC has been held without a goal in a game.

BWC combined for 30 shots on net but couldn’t crack West Van goalie, Ronin Geraghty.

West Van fired 46 on BWC’s Kyle Kelsey, including 20 in the final frame. Fraser Minten notched 2G-2A to lead WV.

After a scoreless first, West Van notched three in the second and finished with a pair in the third, including an early short-handed goal by Connor Bedard – his second of the game.

Both teams were 0-5 on the power play.

The loss dropped BWC one win behind West Van in the standings, although West Van holds a game in hand.

West Van have lost only two games so far, to Notre Dame and to Rink Academy, vs four losses for BWC.

Other teams in the division played up to four games last weekend, making up some of the extra games they had on the leaders.

The division is fairly balanced (every team except the bottom-three have 12 points or more), with a top five of West Van, BWC, Yale (10-4-1), Delta Green (9-1-2), and St. George’s (10-4-0) emerging as the leaders.

Looking ahead…

BWC has a big three-game weekend upcoming at Planet Ice in Delta. Two of the three teams they play trail BWC by only three points.

After a Thursday matchup against Delta White (2-9-1), BWC takes on St. George’s on Friday, followed by Delta Green on Sunday.

BWC beat White 5-2 and St. George’s 5-1 in their other matchups this season. They have yet to play Green.

After next weekend, the Bantam Prep team has just one more game before the holiday break, a clash against Yale on December 21.
