Bantam Varsity update

BWC’s Bantam Varisty team played twice last week, going 1-1-0 to bring their record to 19-5-0 this season.

Game 1 – Feb 6 vs Yale (20-5-0)

The loss came first, and it was a tough one as BWC lost 6-0 to Yale on a rare Wednesday game.

It’s a bit baffling considering BWC beat Yale 6-1 in their last meeting and 5-1 in another game this season, but BWC was without their top scorer Tyler Chan.

BWC still held the edge in shots 33-30 despite that, but couldn’t get anything past Yale’s goalie Max Fowle, who recorded his fourth shutout of the season.

The season series will finish tied at two (Yale also won a 6-4 game in October), since these teams won’t meet again unless they face in playoffs.

Game 2 – Feb 10 vs Delta (11-11-3)

BWC responded well after the loss with a shutout win of their own, a 5-0 victory against Delta.

It was a rare combined shutout. Charlie Tritt stopped 12 shots in the first 20 minutes before Benjamin van der Tas finished up the final two periods, making 13 saves.

BWC got goals from Ryden Evers, Tyler Tse, Tyler Chan, and two from Dylan Emerson. Evers (1G-2A) led all skaters with three points in the game.

Around the league

The loss to Yale keeps BWC in third place, two points behind Yale with a game in hand.

The chances of catching West Van (22-2-1) look slim at this point, but BWC can still guarantee themselves second place.

In the event of a tie, BWC would hold the tiebreaker over Yale.
