CSSHL E15 Update – 2-2-3 in last seven games

Burnaby Winter CLub’s E-15’s are going through a bit of a slump by their standards. After an unreal 21-0-0 start they have tapered off lately with a 2-2-3 record in their last seven games, and 0-1-1 this past weekend.

Game 1

BWC beat St. George’s (13-7-3) by a 4-2 score in their first meeting, but St. George’s took a 6-4 win on Friday.

Rocco La Cara scored twice in the second to help BWC take a 4-2 lead, but St. George’s stormed back with four unanswered goals in the third period. Shots were fairly even, BWC outshot St. George’s 39-38.

Game 2

Pacific Coast (8-15-4) played spoiler role in a 3-2 OT win against BWC.

BWC had won the previous two matchups, 2-1 and 11-3.

This loss appeared to be more bad luck than anything else. Pacific Coast was able to get two goals early in the first period before BWC took over (Pacific Coast registered only 12 shots after the first period)

BWC outshot them 54-22 but could only beat Aiden Van der tas twice, forcing overtime where Trey Anderson won it for Pacific Coast.

Around the league

BWC is still in 1st place, though their recent slide opens the door for other teams to close the gap.

Northern Alberta (21-4-1) appears to be the biggest threat with four games in hand, but Delta (21-5-3) is right there as well.

BWC has had no problems scoring this season – 20 goals more than the next-highest team.

However, they could stand to improve on the defensive side of things – only the bottom-four teams have allowed more goals than Burnaby.
