CSSHL – BWC Midget Prep Update – solid start so far, big month coming up

October 8, 2018

The BWC Midget Prep program is well underway for 2018-19, with team having played five CSSHL regular season games thus far.

BWC started their season off with a pair of games against Shawnigan, who currently sit first in the division.

BWC’s Caiden Bankier scored a late goal to send the season opener to overtime but Shawnigan eventually prevailed 5-4. BWC then took a 6-3 loss in the rematch the following day.

Since then, it’s been clear sailing for BWC. They shut out Yale 8-0 on September 22nd, and followed that up with a 10-3 victory the next night against Pacific Coast. Their most recent game was a 6-1 win over Pursuit on September 29.

Considering BWC’s only two losses came against the top-seeded team, the team is well positioned in the early going.

BWC are currently one of five teams with a just single loss so far, and have three games in hand against top ranked Shawnigan, who are now 6-1-1, vs BWC’s 3-1-1. Edge, Rink, NAX and Delta are all also off to great starts.

BWC travel to Calgary next weekend, where they’ll face Banff, Edge, and IHA at Winsport.

BWC Scoring Punch

Leading the way offensively for BWC is Caeden Bankier (8-4-12, 5GP) and Deepkaran Hans (3-8-11, 5GP), who are both producing over two points-per-game. They are sitting second and third in points-per-game in the entire Midget Prep division, behind only Sean Ramsay (26 points in 10 games) of Pacific Coast.

Beyond Bankier and Hans, BWC has enjoyed great depth scoring, with nine players scoring at at least a point-per-game rate.
