Cooper Connell (West Vancouver, BC) scored the winner late as West Van Academy won their Canadian Sport School Hockey League debut with a 4-3 victory over the Yale Hockey Academy in Elite 15s Division action on Friday afternoon.

Connell found the back of the net with less than three minutes to play in the third period to break a 3-3 deadlock.

Nicholas Drapkin (West Vancouver, BC), Jacob Slipec (Surrey, BC) and Brendon Jorssen (Richmond, BC) also tallied for West Van.  oGoaltender Dylan Barton (Vancouver, BC) made 17 saves in the win.

Yale’s Cody Hough (Maple Ridge, BC) opened the scoring just 18 seconds into the game. Carter Anderson (Langley, BC) made it a two-goal lead late in the frame.

Jason Bowen (Chilliwack, BC) rounded out the scoring for Yale, while Blake Wood (Nanaimo, BC) turned aside 26 shots in goal.
