in regular season

December 19, 2019

MIDGET PREP

Northern Extreme regained the #1 spot at the top of the CSSHL’s Midget Prep division last weekend with three wins at home.

NAX downed #13 IHA 5-4, #15 Banff 8-1, and #4 Edge 4-3, to take a one point lead, with 56, over BWC.

BWC played just one game last weekend, edging St. George’s 2-1 at home Saturday.

Going into the final weekend before the Christmas break, the only difference in their records so far – NAX’s one game OTW, vs BWC’s one game OTL. Both teams have a single one game regular season loss, and 18 wins.

NAX will face cross town rival OHA Edmonton Friday afternoon at the Dale Fisher Arena for their final game of 2019. In their two previous games, NAX posted a 7-4 win back on October 27, and a 4-3 shootout win on November 9.

OHA Edmonton, with three snipers in the Top 5, should make this an interesting contest.

BWC will wrap up the year with a home game at 7:30 Friday night vs. #8 Yale, the team who handed BWC their only OTL, a 3-2 shootout decision, back on Oct. 27. In their second meeting, BWC prevailed 4-1 EN on November 8.

The two division leaders have opened a sizable lead on the next group, OHA Edmonton (45 pts), Rink (43) and Edge (42). West Van is right there too with 40 points. However, OHA Edmonton, Edge and West Van have all played three more games than the two leaders.

Division Scoring

West Vancouver’s rookie Connor Bedard (05) is leading the division in goals with 25, and is tied at 52 points with team mate Brandon Buhr (02) who has notched 22G-30A. Three OHA Edmonton players round out the Top 5. Two are tied with 48 points – Luigi Benincasa (23G-25A) and Max McCoy (16G-32A). Nicholas Degraves is a point back with 18G-29A.

Top Tenders

BWC’s Thomas Milic, who posted the 2-1 win vs St. George’s last weekend, continues to lead as the top goalie wth a 10W-1L record, 1.55 GGA and .951 save percentage. Shawingan’s Ethan David remains in the #2 spot, at 7W-2L, with a 1.65 GGA and .938.
NAX’s Drew Sim remains #3 with a perfect 9-0 and a 1.71 GGA and .939 save percentage.
BWC’s Tanner Johnson has played two fewer games than team mate Milic, and is 8-1-0 with a 1.78 and .948, at #4.
Rounding out the Top 5 is OHA Edmonton’s Kanwar Gill, with a 5-0-0 record, a 2.38 GGA and .923 save percentage.
