CSSHL Midget Prep – Delta, BWC, PoE, OHA W post big weekends

There was a lot of action in the top Prep division of the Canadian Sports School Hockey League this past weekend.

A total of 20 games were on the slate, the majority played in a Showcase Weekend on the Island co-hosted by Pacific Coast Hockey Academy and Shawnigan Lake.

#1 Delta Hockey Academy continued their red hot streak, with a sweep of 3 wins and 6 points to move to 13-1-0, and into sole possession of first place, after #2 OHA Red dropped their first of the year vs #6 OHA White on Sunday.

#2 OHA Red played only the one game, losing 4-1 despite outshooting White 39-21, and are now two points back of Delta, though with a game in hand.

#3 Edge lost two of three and saw BWC and NAX gain ground them, now both just a point behind. Edge lost 6-2 to Shawnigan Lake in their opener, won 4-3 vs Yale on Saturday and lost 4-3 to Delta on Sunday.

#4T BWC posted 5 of 6 possible points on the weekend, with wins over OHA Edmonton and Banff, and an OT loss to NAX in game 3. They are tied with NAX but have a game in hand.

#4T NAX scooped 4 of 6 points. They dropped their opener Friday night 3-2 to Delta, then won 3-1 vs Pacific Coast and 7-6 in OT vs BWC.

#6 OHA White won two huge games, 3-2 vs Rink on Thursday, November 24, and then 4-1 vs previously undefeated OHA Red on Sunday. OHA Red, the senior team of the two, outshot White 39-21 in the game, but couldn’t solve Keenan Rancier. OHA White is now just two points out of fourth place with three games in hand on NAX and two on BWC.

#7 Pursuit of Excellence also had a big weekend, taking 5 of 6 possible points in a triple header vs Manitoba’s Rink HA in the Okanagan. Two games went into OT, a 6-5 win on Friday, and a 2-1 loss Sunday. Saturday’s game was a 5-2 win.

#8 Yale also had a solid weekend, notching 4 of 6 points, on two wins – 8-2 vs IHA on Friday and 5-2 vs OHA Edmonton on Sunday. They lost a tight game to Edge, 4-3 on Saturday, despite outshooting them 37-27. Edge held a 4-1 lead going into the third and managed only 5 shots on goal, as Yale came back with 2 to make it close.

#9 Rink is lurking, along with #10 Shawnigan, with several games in hand on some of the leaders.
