
Hockey Hub has recently ranked the 67 PCAHA bantam rep teams.
Below are the rankings re-grouped into BC Hockey Provincial Playoff brackets (Tiers).
BC Hockey Tier assignment is based mainly on the size of association membership, except for the Winter Clubs whose #1 teams are automatically placed in the top Tier.
The process creates some significant imbalances at the bantam level for the provincials, which is why PCAHA uses Flights instead of provincial Tier designations to balance teams for regular season play.
For instance, Tier 1 Port Coquitlam Bantam A1 in are playing their regular season in Flight 4, and are ranked 32nd overall, but will play in the same bracket as #1 overall North Shore Winter Club for provincial playoffs, in a 20 team Tier 1 group.
In Tier 2, the bracket extends from #14 ranked NSWC Bantam A2s at top of Flight 2, all the way down to #57 Richmond A2s in Flight 6, for the 23 Tier 2 teams. There are 19 Tier 3 teams and five Tier 4 teams.
The system more or less rights itself in midget hockey, as top players aspiring to play junior hockey move onto other leagues, leaving the MHAs more or less balanced according to the number of resident players available in their draw zone.
(Washington State based teams, Sno-Kings and Seattle Juniors, are ranked here but are not eligible for BC Hockey Provincial playoffs).
In the table below, the first column shows placement number within BC Hockey Tier, second column shows Hockey Hub ranking of team within the 67 team Pacific Coast league, third column shows current PCAHA Flight and place.
