The Vernon Vipers’ Josh Latta has committed to play NCAA Div 1 Hockey at the University of Alabama-Huntsville for next season.

The four year BCHL veteran is in the midst of a career season with 18 goals and 16 assists, leading the team points with 34.

“It’s a very exciting time in my life right now.  This is something I’ve worked so hard at to achieve over the last 3 years and to have my dream finally come true is really an incredible feeling,” says Latta.

The West Vancouver product (8.14.98) says that family, friends and the Vipers have kept him driven through the ups and downs.

“This couldn’t be more of a well deserved scholarship,” says Head Coach and GM of the Vipers Mark Ferner.  “Not only are they getting a very competitive, committed player, but they’re also getting an outstanding young man.  We are extremely happy for Josh and his family.

Latta played for the Vancouver NW Giants in 2014-2015 and 2015-2016, scoring 19G-68 points in his final year of minor hockey, before joining the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.

He joined the Vipers midway through last season, scoring 1G-5 points in 19 games.

The University is located in northern Alabama, close to the Tennessee border.
