The 43rd edition of the Medicine Hats Hounds Bantam A1 Tournament is underway this weekend, finishing up with the championship game at noon Sunday.

The sixteen teams, divided into four pools, have now completed their three game round robin, and the top two teams in each pool are advancing to the medal round.

North Shore Winter Club come in as defending tournament champions, but rival Burnaby Winter Club have had the edge on them so far this year, although only with a 1-0 win in their most recent head to head last week. So this year BWC come into the tournament as the BC favorites.

Two academy teams, Pursuit of Excellence (PoE), and Delta Varsity, along with Prince George round out the BC contingent.

After the three game round robin, BC teams finished first in the respective pools.

BWC, Delta Varsity and POE went 3-0; NSWC 2-0-1.

BWC started with a 3-1 win vs Edge (Calgary) in their opener on Thursday and added two wins on Friday: 10-1 vs host Medicine Hat, and 6-3 vs Edmonton CAC in game 3 Saturday night.

Delta Varsity downed PG 6-1 in their first game, Edmonton SSAC 6-4 in their second and Humboldt 5-4 in their third game.

POE also ran the table, with three high-scoring wins; vs Ft. Saskatchewan 8-3, Edmonton K o C 8-4  and Colorado 10-1.

NSWC opened with a 2-2 tie vs Saskatchewan Valley, then posted a 4-0 win over Airdie and a 4-1 win vs Lloydminster.

Edmonton SSAC are the favored Alberta team.
