Nik Petan was drafted in the second round of the NHL 2013 Entry Draft last week in Newark, New Jersey.
The North Delta native scored 46 goals and added a league-best 74 assists for 120 points this past season in his second WHL season with the Portland Winterhawks.  Petan was a member of Team Pacific at the 2012 World Under 17 Championships and also a member of Team Canada that won gold at the 2013 Under 18 World Championship.
Petan played for the BC Major Midget Greater Vancouver Canadians for the 2010-2011 season where he recorded 19 goals and 30 assists in 35 games.  He also captured gold with Team BC at the 2011 Canada Winter Games.
Petan scored 76 goals with 63 assists in 57 games in 2009-2010 PCAHA play and led the NSWC Bantam A1 Winterhawks to a fourth-place finish in the Western Canada bantam championships.
Petan was selected by Portland in the first round (16th overall) of the 2010 WHL Bantam Draft.
