Play has ended for all Atom teams until January, and this update takes a look at where each North Van Atom Storm team sits in the standings after their first twelve games.
Atom Storm A1 – mid-pack in GVC Flight 2
The Storm A1 had a solid start to their season, putting up a 6-5-1 record through their first twelve games.
The bulk of the team’s wins came from games 3-8 when they went 4-1-0. They scored seven goals in each of those wins.
After a couple losses and a tie, the Storm A1 ended on a positive note, a 3-0 win for the team’s first shutout win of the year.
Here’s a look at the first twelve games for the Storm A1:
|11/11/2015||Arbutus Club A1||2||5||L||1||2|
|11/18/2015||Van T-bird A3||7||1||W||1||4|
|11/21/2015||Van T-Bird A2||2||4||L||1||0|
|12/9/2015||Sunshine Coast A||0||1||L||0||12|
|12/15/2015||Arbutus Club A1||3||0||W||0||8|
The Storm A1 haven’t been a top team in GVC Flight 2, but they have been above average with a +7 goal differential and a record above .500.
Right now they sit fifth of eleven teams in the flight. A number of teams aren’t far behind, so a strong start will be huge for the Storm A1 to distance themselves from those teams.
Here’s a look at the GVC Flight 2 standings:
|GVC Flight 2||Team Name||GP||W||L||T||SPt||Pts||GF||GA||PIM|
|1||Van T-bird A2||12||10||0||2||11||33||63||17||36|
|5||North Van A1||12||6||5||1||8||21||41||34||70|
|7||Van T-bird A3||12||3||8||1||10||17||31||58||50|
|8||Sunshine Coast A||12||4||7||1||7||16||33||48||82|
|9||Arbutus Club A1||12||4||8||0||8||16||35||47||58|
Atom Storm A2 – ending on a positive note
The Storm A2 wrapped up their first half with a trio of games in the final days of action.
The team came close against Burnaby Winter Club (5-7-0) in a 3-2 loss, and then dropped the next game against Burnaby (4-5-2).
The Storm A2 were able to end on a high note though, as they took down Whistler (6-4-1) by a 4-3 score in their final game before the break.
That was the team’s second win of the season. The Storm A2 have been close in a lot of the games they haven’t won though, so we could see a better second half for the squad.
Here’s a look at how the first half of the Storm A2 season went:
|11/14/2015||Van T-bird A4||2||2||T||1||2|
|11/18/2015||West Van A1||0||4||L||1||0|
|12/13/2015||Van T-bird A4||4||0||W||1||2|
Atom Storm A3
The Storm A3 have had a tough season so far, as they are still in search of a win after twelve games.
The team played their closest game yet but came up just short in a 1-0 loss against Vancouver (5-4-3).
One positive for this team is the discipline, taking fewer penalties than all others in GVC Flight 4 and getting eleven of twelve sportsmanship points.
The Storm A3 will look for that first win when play resumes in January.
Here’s a game-by-game look at the Storm A3 season:
|11/22/2015||New West A2||1||7||L||1||6|
|12/5/2015||Van T-bird A5||1||6||L||1||4|
