With all North Van Bantam Storm rep teams finished play for the 2015 portion of the season, this update looks at how each team fared in the first half of this season.
As well, we take a look at the standings and where each team fits in their respective flights, and which way they might trend once play resumes in January.
Bantam Storm A1 – dominant in Flight 2
The Storm A1 have had a strong first half of the season, going undefeated through their first twelve games.
There’s a lot for this team to be proud of. With a 7-0-5 record, the Storm A1 sit atop Flight 2 as the only undefeated team.
But it doesn’t stop there.
The Storm A1 have made sure to collect as many points as possible, and have managed to snag a sportsmanship point (Spt) in every game this season, one of only two teams in Flight 2 to do so.
While the team has enjoyed fairly consistent scoring, the defense stands out as a major factor to the Storm A1 undefeated record. Their fifteen goals allowed in twelve games is the lowest total allowed by any team. The next lowest is Port Moody (7-2-3) with 24 against.
Here’s a game-by-game look at how the Storm A1 have done in Flight 2 this season:

As previously mentioned, the Storm A1 are the only undefeated team in Flight 2 and, unsurprisingly, sit in first place.
They have a three point lead on second place for the time being, but they’ll need to keep an eye on their competition.
Although undefeated, the team has yet to beat Semiahmoo (8-1-3), Burnaby Winter Club (8-2-2), and North Shore Winter Club (5-5-2).
While it’s clear the Storm A1 have the upper hand in Flight 2, many of the games have been extremely close and the number of Flight 2 games that have resulted in ties is abnormally high, indicating that the skill gap between many of these teams is very small.
The Storm A1 have what it takes to maintain their position, but it won’t come easy.

Bantam Storm A2 – ending in a funk in Flight 3
The Storm A2 had a solid start to the season, but a four game losing streak has seen them drop in the standings a bit. The most recent in that line was a 6-1 loss to Sno-King (6-3-3).
The Storm A2 scoring was solid in the first eighth games, but in this four game losing streak the team has just five goals. The offense will need to spark again in the new year, because the team’s 53 goals against are the most of any team in Flight 3.
Here’s a look at the games played this season by the Storm A2:

A2 | Totals: | 29 | 53 | 3 | 8 | 1 | 9 | 155 |
The Storm A2 sit ninth of ten teams in Flight 3 but are still very close to sixth, seventh, and eighth place. The team has picked up nine of twelve possible sportsmanship points to go along with a 3-8-1 record for a total of 16 points.
If the team’s offense picks back up to where it was at the beginning of the year, the Storm A2 should be able to climb back into the middle of the pack.

Bantam Storm A3 – solid finish in Flight 6

They snagged their first shutout victory of the year in a 3-0 win over Ridge Meadows (2-8-2).
They’ve outscored opponents 8-3 over their last three games, going 2-0-1 in those games. That puts their goal differential nearly even, currently at -1.
The two recent wins came against teams the Storm A3 had previously played and either lost or tied, which suggests the team has improved throughout the season.

Bantam Storm A4 – three game win streak in Flight 7
After a so-so start, the Storm A4 won three of their final four games to climb back up to a .500 record of 5-5-2.
After losing to Abbotsford (8-4-0) and Cloverdale (5-6-1) in the first two games of the season, the Storm A4 got revenge with 5-2 and 11-5 victories.
Just like the Storm A3, the A4 seem to only get better as the season goes on. Let’s hope the trend continues come January.

It’ll be interesting to see which direction this team goes in 2016, but a 5-2 win over a strong Abbotsford team shows that the Storm A4 can hang with the top teams in the flight.
