North Vancouver Storm Midget A1
The Storm A1 had a bye week in Week 1 and have consequently played fewer games than teams at the top of the standings after Week 2. However, the team is looking good in their first two games, picking up 5 of a possible 6 points.
The team’s first game result was a 3-3 draw against Vancouver, a team that moved up from Group 2 placement and currently is tied for first place with 8 points at 2-1-1. The Storm’s second game was a convincing 6-0 win over Chilliwack, notable in that it came on the heals of 2-1 squeaker win against the Bruins in tiering.
There are two games on tap of the team this week, a home game Monday at Harry Jerome against Seafair (1-1-0) and at Ridge Meadows (2-2-0) Thursday.
In the early going so far, Coquitlam, NSWC and Vancouver appear to be the teams to beat to stay near the top of the division, so the Vancouver tie bodes well. The Storm lost 5-3 to Ridge in placement, so a win there will be a real confidence booster. Seafair, like Vancouver and NSWC posted a strong record in placement, so will present another opportunity to build momentum.
The Storm had an an exceptional year in Midget A1 last year, finishing first in the Lower Mainland with an 11-4-3 record, and will be fired up to try to keep the streak going – points in this week’s games could do it.
