All North Van Midget Storm rep teams have finished play for the 2015 portion of the season, and now have a break until play resumes in January.
This update looks at how each team fared in the first half of this season, and where each team fits in their respective flights.
Midget Storm A1 – tied for second in Flight 1
It’s a good time for a lengthy break, as the Storm A1 have struggled a bit to end the first half of their season.
The team had an exceptional start, winning five straight, three by shutout, and only allowing four goals in that span. The Storm A1 lost just one time in their first nine games, going 6-1-2.
However, that record has taken a hit, as the Storm A1 lost three straight heading into the winter break. The most recent loss was a 5-3 loss to Richmond (7-3-2). That loss marked the first time this season the team failed to get a point when scoring three or more goals.
In the first nine games of the season, the team allowed just ten goals. In their last three games, the team has allowed fourteen goals. Even with the huge spike in goals against these last three games, the Storm A1 still lead all teams in Flight 1 with fewest goals against. They have 24 goals against, while the next lowest total is 31.
Hopefully for the Storm A1, the break will serve as a refresher, and when play resumes in January they can regain the form they had through the first nine games.

With a 6-4-2 record, in combination with eleven of twelve possible sportsmanship points (SPt), the Storm A1 have collected a total of 25 points through twelve games. That’s good enough to be tied for second place in Flight 1.
The Storm A1 will need to hit the ground running in 2016. Although they sit in a good position now, the standings in Flight 1 are extremely tight. All thirteen teams have at least three wins, and the gap between 2nd and 11th place is just seven points.

Midget Storm A2 – impressive showing against Sunshine Coast
The Storm A2 have had a rough season thus far, winning just once in twelve games. However, the team also has five ties, which has helped keep the team in the hunt in Flight 3.
In their most recent games against top-seeded Sunshine Coast (10-1-1), the team put forward a couple strong efforts. They managed to tie the Sunshine Coast 4-4 in the first contest, before scoring three the next game in a 6-3 loss.
Seven goals in two games against the second-best defensive team in the flight is something for the Storm A2 to be proud of, and hopefully they can carry that into the 2016 portion of the season.

Despite only one win, the ties and sportsmanship points earned by the team have the Storm A2 sitting in seventh of ten teams in Flight 3 with 18 points.
The standings are tight, so the Storm A2 will need to come out strong if they want to hold their position or rise up in the standings.

Midget Storm A3 – middle of Flight 4 pack
After winning just once in their first seven games, the Storm A3 went 3-2-0 in their last five, improving their record to 4-7-1.
All four of the team’s wins and the team’s lone tie came against teams below them in the standings, so we likely won’t see a huge shift with the Storm A3 in terms of standings.
However, if they continue to create space between themselves and the bottom few teams, the Storm A3 should be able to sneak into the playoff picture.
