Dec 28, 2013
Two of the North Van Storm bantam rep teams are tearing it up in their divisions, one is mid pack, and the fourth is looking to push reset as the New Year opens.
Bantam A1 Storm – 2nd Place
The Bantam A1 Storm will start the New Year just two points out of first place, right behind Seattle Junior A1s in Flight 3. But they’ll have to continue to play well to maintain their position as they’ve got company close behind.
New West A1 have the same 8-3-1 record, but one less sporty. And while the top three teams have created some separation from the next group, both the Vancouver T-Birds and the Vancouver Spirit have the same 3 game record in the loss column, with 4 and 5 ties respectively. With some strong play, they too could press for a top 4 finish.
Although the Storm endured a stretch of three subpar games in early December, they finished strong, including a big win against Seattle, who had beat them early in the season.
Bantam A2 Storm – 1st Place
The A3 Storm ave continued their dominance inFlight 5, racking up a near perfect 9-1-2 record with 10 sportsmanship points.
The only blemish so far is a 4-2 loss to second place Semiahmoo (7-1-4). The two ties came against Seafair A2 and BWC A3 in late November.
The team will have to be careful not to let their six game winning streak get the best of them however, as those wins have been against teams at the bottom half of the league.
Bantam A3 Storm – 3rd Place
The Bantam A3 Storm have continued their .500 play with two wins and two losses since mid December. Cloverdale A3 are running away with the division with a perfect 12-0-0 record, and have handed the Storm two of their losses. The Colts will certainly be moved up a division for the second half of the season.
That will create an incredible log jam at the top of the division, with six teams within four points of Ridge Meadows (7-3-0) who will inherit first place after the move.
The Storm will start the season two points back of the Rustlers, with a 5-6-1 record. The key to their success in the New Year will be finding ways to win against Coquitlam and Richmond.
Bantam A4 Storm – Last Place
The Bantam A4s are currently in last place of Flight 7.with just one win and one tie against 10 losses. The good news though, is that the win and the tie have come within the frame of the last five games, breaking up a seven game losing streak.
The team will enter the New Year with a fresh slate of games for January, and will be looking to improve on their most recent 1-3-1 record to close out the season. If they can do that, it will be a good close to the year.
