Peewee A2 Storm – Regular Season, Flight 5, 4th of 11

The North Van Peewee A2 Storm hit a rough patch of ice over the last four games of the regular season, posting three losses and a tie to fall out of second place and finish fourth, one point out of a Top 3 spot.

The losses came after putting up four straight wins to start the New Year, including a 3-2 win over second place NSWC on Jan 13.

The big test came next game, when the team went up against to ranked Surrey A2, who finished first overall.

The Storm lost that game by a single goal. Had they won that game, who knows, it may have given them the momentum they needed to make a run for the number one spot.

The team had enough wins over all, the same as first place Surrey, but had a poor record with sportsmanship points, which probably cost them the banner. They would have tied Surrey with 41 points had they matched Surrey’s sportsmanship points.

The team moved on to Tier 2 playoffs this week, ranked 20th overall in Tier 2, and faced 13th ranked Ridge Meadows, a Flight 4 team. The Storm made it close, but ultimately fell, 2-0, with just 6 PIM.

The team now moves to the President’s Cup round to finish off their season.
