NSWC Bantam A3s finish season on high note

in playoffs

NSWC Bantam A3, 2013-14

March 10, 2014

The NSWC Bantam A3 Winterhawks closed out their season with three straight wins, and a banner, that helped erase the disappointment of an unexpected early exit from the 4-point third round, which ended their Final 4 and Provincial dreams a week ago.

The Winterhawks finished their post-season Saturday night with a convincing 6-3 with over Coquitlam A3, to clinch the Presidents Series banner for Tier 3 teams eliminated from the quarterfinals.

The team had earlier downed West Van A1, 2-1 and Vancouver T-Birds A3, 9-2.

Over the regular season the team posted a record of 13-3-4 and 49 points, and finished one point back of second place Sunshine Coast Bantam A1s (17-3-0), who have moved through the Final 4 to Provincials in West Kelowna, along with surprise F4 winner Arbutus A1 (8-9-3).

Western Washington Sno-Kings, won the league banner with a record of 16-1-3, and 18 sporties to finish three points up on Sunshine Coast, and four ahead of the Winterhawks. The Sno-Kings, as an out of province team, don’t qualify to play in the BC Provincial playoffs.

The A3 Winterhawks played in two tournaments, placing second in a Tier 3 tournament in Penticton in October and third in a Tier 2 tournament in West Kelowna at Christmas.

Their final record: 27-11-5, 140 GF – 79 GA (1.84); 8 shut outs, 392 PIM.
