In week two of the PJHL season the North Van Wolf Pack added two wins to sit atop the league standings with seven points.
North Vancouver Minor Hockey Association alumnus and Wolfpack rookie Josh Peakman was named first star in both games and racked up five points.
On Wednesday the Pack downed the Langley Trappers 6-2 in a penalty filled game – 88 minutes in penalties were shared equally by the two teams. Kaz Mimemoto started the scoring, with Josh Peakman scoring twice and adding two assists. Nathan McCarnan chipped in with a goal and three helpers. Rookie Alex Brewster scored his first PJHL goal and Justin Lee added another.
On Saturday the Wolf Pack topped the Grandview Steelers 1-0. The story of the night was the spectacular play of two rookie goaltenders. North Van’s Jono Holloway stopped 31 shots to earn his first PJHL shutout, while Grandview’s Matteo Petrelli made 26 saves. With 34 seconds remaining in the second overtime Josh Peakman potted a goal on a breakaway.
The next home game for the Pack will be this Saturday at 7 p.m. at Harry Jerome Rec Centre where they’ll host the Aldergrove Kodiacs, 2016-17 league champions
