The schedule gods have favored NSWC, Coquitlam and Abby for Weekend 3 of regular season play in PCAHA Midget AAA league.

All three teams will play twice on the weekend. For Coquitlam and North Shore wins will mean staying at or near the stop of the food chain. For Abby an opportunity to down the top dogs, and add three more points against untested Richmond (1-0-0), and move up into the top four.

Eight other teams will play just once, and one – second place Ridge Meadows, will be idle.

For Coquitlam it’s an opportunity to solidify first place standing in the league. The Chiefs are currently almost perfect in five starts – 5 wins and sporties in four games. With 14 points, the team is comfortably ahead of second place Ridge Meadows (3-2-0) who are five points aback.

Coquitlam will play Abby (2-2-0) Friday, and Cloverdale (1-3-1) on Saturday. Abby have wins against 12th place Chilliwack and 4th place Vancouver. Cloverdale, meanwhile, tied NSWC 1-1 last weekend, and defeated Chilliwack, after losing their first three. So hard to predict the outcome for Coquitlam.

NSWC also undefeated, with two wins and two ties, will play the struggling Chiefs Friday, and then face school-yard rivals North Van on Monday, in a game that will be critical for both teams.

North Van has lost is last two and will be looking for redemption; while North Shore, provided they can get by Chilliwack on Friday, will be looking to open up some space at the top of the standings.

Nov 30: Update: Chiefs upset NSWC 3-0 on empty netter, and looked good, as North Shore couldn’t solve Chiefs tender, who stopped 24 shots in the shutout. Chiefs capitalize on a couple miscues by North Shore defense and keep NS shooters on outside.
