The first ever PCAHA cross-conference Atom A1 Final 4 wrapped up last night, with Langley A1 claiming top honors, on a record of 2-0-1.
The team started with a 4-4 tie against the Richmond Jets, on Saturday, and then knocked off Cloverdale 9-2 on Sunday and top ranked BWC 5-3 in the final game.
BWC had started with a 3-0 win over Cloverdale on Saturday, posted a 4-1 decision over Richmond on Monday, before meeting Langley at the Newton Arena last night.
Langley had downed BWC 6-4 in the final game of the regular season on January 31, after losing 9-4 to them November 26.
Richmond finished third, the only team that were not beaten by Langley. They started with the 4-4 tie in game 1, then lost 4-1 to BWC, and edged Cloverdale 2-1 in their last game.
Three of the Top 4 favorites had advanced through the quarterfinals.
BWC A1 came into the Final 4 as the #1 ranked team, after eliminating #8 BWC A2, in two straight in the quarterfinals, 10-0 and 13-0.
Langley A1 came in as the #2 ranked team. They had come from behind to down #7 ranked Surrey A1 in a semifinal series that went the four-game distance.
The Richmond Jets A1 had eliminated #6 NSWC A1 in three games, with a tie and two wins.
The #5 ranked Cloverdale A1 had upset #4 Semiahmoo A1, in another series that went four games.
The Final 4 series was played at South Surrey Arena, Centennial Arena White Rock and Newton Arena.
