The PCAHA has started a new Bantam A1 Showcase Weekend to kick off the regular season for the top teams in the Greater Vancouver area. It runs this weekend, November 7-8, with all games at Planet Ice in Maple Ridge on the Cam Neely rink.
Below is a breakdown of who’s playing whom, with HH rankings in column 1, and a schedule. All teams play two games, except for the two Flight 2 teams, who just play one game.
Teams are matched up against their closest rivals – so it should be a good weekend of competitive hockey for all teams.
HH rankings closely match PCAHA’s, except for one team. PCAHA has ranked Cloverdale in the #10 spot, whereas HH have them at #13.
HH ranked the BWC A2s in #10 spot. PCAHA may have its own reasons for not putting an A2 team in the group, as they are removed from Tier 1 competition once playoffs start.
Three teams have been moved up from Group 2 placement for the Showcase: Hollyburn (7-1-0), Chilliwack (6-1-1) and Cloverdale (5-3-0). BWC A2s were (5-2-1).
PCAHA has relegated the bottom two teams from Group 1 placement, Ridge Meadows and Semiahmoo, to Flight 2. Both were 0-7-1 in the placement round. (HH ranked them at 11 and 12, just ahead of Cloverdale). They will play a single game against each other Sunday morning.
